Up, up & away!

Someone I love- A LOT had one of those big milestone birthdays yesterday.
He lacked enthusiasm but we still wanted to celebrate.
Unlike this illustration we didn't fill the sky with balloons.  Instead we went to the arcade!

Monkey Business

Busy working on some fun new boys art for the upcoming Surtex show.
As a mother to a son I quickly realized how saturated the market was with lovely designs for girls.  Not nearly as many for boys.  With a focus on this niche,  I'm rounding out my current collection.

Tropical Birds

This print was inspired by my recent trip to south Florida.
Remembering all the beautiful birds & giant hibiscus I saw.

Tailed by a leopard!

Painted a big spotted cat in my tiny sketchbook.
I'd like to have a leopard friend!

Flowers & bunnies-

what could be better?

I painted this on Tuesday, March 20th to celebrate the spring equinox.
I also gathered some of my favorite spring blooms to keep the festivities going.
(Nothing smells better to me this time of year than hyacinth!)

I'm a sucker for a night sky filled with twinkling stars.

Green Vibes

Can't wait to feel my hands in the dirt & sprinkle pops of color throughout my garden!

Bright Colors

That says it all.  Since I was a little girl I adored bright colors!

I'd hide my favorite crayons from my 3 brothers who I was convinced
really didn't appreciate their beauty.

When life gives you lemons just absorb the vitamin C.
More fun in my mini sketchbook!

(Almost at the end of this one, I wonder if they make circular shaped sketchbooks?)

Green fix

February, my least favorite month of the year.
After almost a full week of cold, ice, and no school I'm ready to bring on the blooms!
(this helped a little)

It's the year of the dog.

Happy Chinese New Year!
This is an old piece I painted a while ago.
I think in dog years it's around 82 years old!

I'm excited to share the next book in my Hello, World! series with Random House Kids.
Dinosaurs is a bright, colorful journey back to a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.
Big, small, horned or plated this board book explores many of the favorites.  Along with a *special fact on each page.  Hope the little dinosaur lovers in your life enjoy snuggling up & learning a little more!

New additions to Hello, World!

I'm excited to let you know that two NEW books will be added to my Hello, World! series with Random House Kids.  Today I'm featuring My Body.  This is a toe dip into anatomy.  Head, shoulders, knees and a whole lot of fun!

This book was chosen as one of Amazons books of the month for February.
I hope if you have a little one in your life you'll sit down & share this book together.
Happy Reading & high five!
(Available at Barnes & Noble or Amazon.)

Note to self:

Things you can't always see are hard at work.

Wednesday, February 7, 2018

Roses are red, some birds are aqua blue.

More birds and visual thoughts on February.
(Guess I'm feeling caged up?)

Take a Bow.

Tada!  I'm sharing a kids Valentine I made for Papyrus.
This is the front of the card.  With the bear finger puppet secured to the interior.

Here's a few of the fun characters on the interior.  There's also lots of fun on the back of the card. (along with red foil details throughout)
I love the interactive quality of this card.  The die cut stage & finger puppet are perfect for a storyline & play.   Available online at Papyrus.

State love

Are you looking for a unique Valentine's day gift?

My state wall art available at Uncommon Goods might do the trick.
Each of the 50 states have been lovingly illustrated featuring the capital, the state bird & flower along with some popular landmarks & the state abbreviation.  Did I mention this can be personalized with a first or last name?  It's an eyeful of educational fun facts!

Cut garden

I made myself a paper flower garden until my real one returns.
My eyes are longing for a bright rainbow of zinnias.

Painted Flowers

Anyone else anxious for spring to arrive?
I painted a floral the reminds me of the breezy, sun filled days that are just around the corner.
(I love that new grass green color & its wispy texture.)

A starry patchwork painted in my mini sketchbook.
Wooo, glad this week is over! ➪↱↗

Thursday, January 18, 2018

Dear January,

I'm not fond of you.
Wishing for wings so I could fly towards warmer weather.
Until then I'll keep the kettle going.
(Hint: Sipping warm tea throughout the day helps!)

Searching for summer.

Ice cream looks good anytime of the year.  I needed to pull up something summery on this cold January morning.  P.S. Sprinkles have always made me happy!

Friday, January 5, 2018

Oh man,

I Wish I really felt this way.

Instead, I'm counting the days until I'll be back in a t-shirt & sandals.
Missing bare arms & sunshine!
(layers aren't my thing)

For me there is always some excitement around the New Year.
A fresh start, with the opportunity to let go of what didn't work & a start date for what could.
This New Year blew in with a BIG blast of brrrrr!
And multiple layers... it's super cold here.

Hope your 2018 is off to a great start!
