Celebrate!

Today's my birthday, I turned 39!  I feel the need to mention that because I want to be one of those people who celebrates their age & isn't afraid of a number.  The art today is a scrap book paper we licensed to a scrapbooking company years ago.  This was part of a larger birthday bonanza collection.
My favorite part of any birthday is blowing out the candles & making a wish.
Which I did :)

A Presidential Surprise!

Today was out of the ordinary for us & the small little town of Parkville we live in.  Around noon we noticed a lot of police outside some of them with flashlights peering into cars.  A couple minutes later muscly men with ear pieces & scanning devices started to appear.  Caution tape was being draped from place to place & the joining streets were being closed. People began arriving outside our studio & we soon found out that President Obama was down the street in the coffee shop & headed up our hill in his motorcade.

I was THRILLED, Luca was confused & Antonio could care less!  First off I got a tiny glimpse of what it must be like for him day in day out to have such an entourage at all times.  Necessary, I know but it must get so old.  They had a guy down the street casing the shrubbery, a helicopter, dogs, countless police men & press. As an introverted person I think it must be SO DIFFICULT to have to be on all the time!  Despite my sympathy for his no win situation & knowing he's a human just like the rest of us it's still exciting to see extraordinary people who get to do extraordinary things.

This was just that reason that my Presidential Portrait piece came to life in 2008.  We were so excited about the new, bold change in office. I had always wanted to do a portrait piece of all the United States Presidents. This was a task but I had some help from a very talented lady who worked at the studio at the time. Together we divided & conquered!

This piece now available at The Land of Nod.
You can also buy my American Presidents boxed set at my Etsy shop
Each of the 44 Presidents printed at 6.5 x 9" in a vivid assortment of color.

Just goes to prove you never know what you may wake up to!

I can't help but add a few of these Presidential portraits I saw last February at my son's school.  Kids have such a point of view & freedom with their art I always find it inspiring!

Dogs

I've been thinking about dogs lately.  With Luca's 7th birthday coming up in a couple weeks I'm thinking now be the time to get him a dog.  While I personally would like a comical dog (something that would amuse me) like an French Bulldog or an English Bulldog. (love the underbite!!!)  I realize I must be practical.  Luca has so many allergies that I know it would be best to get something as hypo allergenic as possiable.  Really, though I wonder is there such a thing as a hypoallergenic dog?  For now on the short list is a Labradoodle.

We had a dog we adored when he was a baby & he did just fine.  I can see him paling around with the dog & I know it's something Antonio & I would enjoy as well.  So looks like there may be a dog in our future!

Here's some more dogs paintings.  They always crack me up the have such personalities & often look like their owners.

My First Mother Goose

Today I'm posting the My First Mother Goose book.  This book came out last January (part of my gift line with C.R. Gibson) This same Mother Goose theme is part of my next fabric collection with our new partner Windham fabrics. (Mother Goose Tales fabric available in Sept.)
This is such a sweet theme and I am happy to see it get leveraged over a variety of products!

As a little girl I thoroughly enjoyed nursery rhymes.  When Luca was younger I would gather our Mother Goose books to read to him before nap time.

The My 1st Mother Goose book highlights 6 classic rhymes.  A rounded tab corner helps little hands easily flip the page. The art is packed full of color & fun details. I hope you & your family enjoy the book as well!

Last but not least the back cover of the book.  I'm not sure why but I always find the back of a book fun to design.

Girly A- Z

This is a new alphabet piece that will be wall art.  I have a boy alphabet too which I'll show soon.
I wanted some strange but pretty color.  Seems like a girly palette can get sickening sweet fast. I did my best to avoid the toothache!  I don't know how may alphabet pieces I've made over the years but it always surprises me I still enjoy working on them.  (I think of hand writing as a special dance for you hands)

Oopsy Daisy Art

Color your walls happy with one of my wall art pieces from Oopsy Daisy.  Ten years ago I started licensing my art with Oopsy Daisy & over time the collection has really grown.  I think there's around 200 plus pieces!  I still smile when I think about the kids who may have a piece of my art in their bedroom, playroom or doctors office (I've heard my art pops up there often).   I love what I get to do & it's such an honor to get to share my art with others.  Thanks!
